The future residents have the desire to live in an environmentally friendly house that blends into the landscape and allows them to enjoy the view and their relationship with the environment to the fullest.
From the street, a path leads to the back of the property. The plot slopes gently down towards the valley and the distant landscape. From the entrance to the plot, the house appears as a large green roof covering the main building, the carport and a space dedicated to storage.
The house has three more opaque facades and a large south-east facade that embraces the landscape and takes advantage of the favourable orientation for bioclimatic aspects.
One of the unique features of the project – apart from the straw bale insulation – is the use of an external structure made of local larch.
This structure has several functions: it supports the floorboards and the roof, it provides solar protection, and it allows for great versatility in future developments (the addition of a pergola or a greenhouse, fixing of guide cables for climbing plants, etc.).
This type of configuration contributes to a more global reflection on the ‘edge effect’ linked to facades to create an ecosystem favourable to buildings (insulation, comfort, food production) and to the environment.
