“I place great importance on outdoor space. I dream of a house that melts into the
landscape and connects with nature and trees,
organically. A house where we can enjoy the enveloping comfort
of shelter while maintaining contact with the outside. I also enjoy
intermediary spaces: both inside and outside, protected and open.
I dream of a light-filled home where through the windows, your
gaze can travel far into the distance. I love looking to the horizon. When I wake up in the morning
the first thing I like to do is open the window,
nod at the trees and the plants in the garden and then gaze far into the distance. To me,
light and views are important in the living spaces (kitchen, lounge, diner) and
in the office (working space).
A simple and beautiful home. Beautiful in its proportions, in its materials (wood,
stone, clay), in its good use of space. I prefer things that are noble and
poetic over luxury and opulence. Noble in the sense of simple, raw and real.
I would like to see natural materials (wooden beams,
a staircase in a tree trunk). I would like to live in a home that feels like a cabin
but I’d also like to have a feeling of space. Space and little corners where I can
nest or hide treasures. I would like a large space for
living. In which a long table can be extended for celebrations.
I like to find surprising plays of light.
I would also like a fun house. Where certain things are there just to
draw a smile or encourage fun and games: bridges? walkways?
ropes? secret passageways? balancing elements? split levels?
I would like a real home within my home! I like making fire, smelling
its aroma, hearing and watching the flames”.
